Look closely at the photo, taken at our social retreat at Wydale Hall in October 2003, and you will notice that you don't have to be a mother to be a member of the Mothers' Union! For example, both the men in the photo are full members!
More formally, membership of The Mothers' Union is open to anyone who has been baptised in the name of the Holy Trinity, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and who upholds the Aim & Objectives of the Mothers' Union.
Branches do change over time, and if you spot any inaccuracies in this list, please contact us.This list was compiled from information available January 2008.
Membership & list of Branches in the Diocese of York
There are three forms of membership:
- Branch membership
- Branch members generally take a full active role in their Branch. Membership is under £15 a year (2008)and entitles the member to the newsletter.
- Diocesan membership
- Diocesan membership is often chosen by those whose work and other commitments prevent them from taking an active role in the day-to-day life of their Branch but who want to support the Mothers' Union in other ways. Membership is under £20.00 a year and entitles the member to the Diocesan newsletter and to ENCOMPASS, which is a biannual international newsletter.
- Indoor membership
- For those members who are confined to their homes we offer Indoor membership. They receive all our mailings and literature and they provide us with a great deal of our most necessary primary resource: prayer. Membership is the same as Branch membership though some branches do occasionally gift membership to their indoor members.
